Performing Rhinoplasty For A Patient With A Broken Nose

Posted by Dr. Litner and Dr. Solieman on February 2nd, 2022

A broken nose may seem like a “cool” experience as a teenager involved in a fist fight, but it certainly is no joke. A nasal break, one of the most common facial fractures, is extremely painful and can cause breathing difficulties.

Dr. Litner and Dr. Solieman have repaired many nasal fractures, in both men and women in Beverly Hills LA.

Some patients present with severe swelling and bruising around the eyes – with causes ranging from contact sports, falling, vehicle accidents, and physical fights. Often the fracture occurs across the bridge of the nose and requires rhinoplasty.

Fixing The Break

Your nose impacts your facial harmony and physical appeal. A broken nose, left untreated, or incorrectly treated, can drastically affect your confidence, facial symmetry and health. Your nose may appear crooked, with humps or bumps, no tip support and breathing issues.

Therefore, it is crucial to work with board-certified experienced plastic surgeons, like Beverly Hills Profiles, Dr. Litner and Solieman. They have performed many rhinoplasty procedures to fix a broken nose.

After careful evaluation of the injury at their Beverly Hills practice, Profiles surgeons can straighten the nose and repair the broken septum that causes the obstruction in the airways.

Your rhinoplasty will either be a closed (incisions are made inside the nose) or an open (incision is made across the columella) procedure. These incisions give the surgeon access to the nasal structures, enabling them to fix and reshape the nose.

Great care is taken by Dr. Solieman and Litner throughout the surgery, and anesthetic is administered to ensure the patient’s comfort during the procedure. Incisions are closed once the surgeon is satisfied with the shape and functionality of the newly repaired nose.

Refined Nasal Shape With Time

While it may take several weeks for the swelling and bruising to subside post-surgery, it is important to understand that it may take up to a year for your nose to heal and for you to enjoy your new refined nose shape.
