When considering facial rejuvenation, many patients find themselves torn between a full facelift and a mini facelift. While both procedures aim to restore a youthful appearance, they address different concerns. At PROFILES Beverly Hills we enjoy helping our patients through the process, including the cost of mini facelift vs full facelift. Here’s what you need to know.

Full Facelift: Who, Why and How

A full facelift is ideal for those with significant sagging and redundancy in the skin, especially around the neck area. One of the primary indicators for a full facelift is the presence of a drooping platysma muscle beneath the neck, leading to excess skin and the onset of jowling. The procedure involves a platysmaplasty, which requires a separate incision under the neck to allow surgeons to lift the neck area and tighten the facial muscles. The incision line for a full facelift remains discreet, but the dissection extends further over the face compared to a mini facelift.

Mini Facelift: Who, Why and How

On the other hand, a mini facelift is perfect for individuals who are just beginning to notice the signs of aging. These patients often look great overall but may observe the initial stages of jowling and a slight droopiness in their facial skin. They might feel that their exterior doesn’t quite match the youthfulness they feel inside. In a mini facelift, the focus is on re-establishing the jawline and removing excess tissue. The incision is concealed and the muscle layer is lifted to provide a refreshed appearance. However, there’s no need for an incision under the neck, as these patients typically don’t have excess tissue in that area.

Mini Facelift vs Full Facelift: Factors to Consider

  • The Extent of Aging Signs: Assess the severity of sagging, jowling, and skin redundancy. Those with pronounced sagging, especially around the neck, may benefit more from a full facelift.
  • Recovery Time: A full facelift, being more extensive, might require a longer recovery period compared to a mini facelift. Consider your schedule and how much downtime you can afford.
  • Budget: While both procedures are investments in your appearance and self-confidence, the cost of mini facelift vs full facelift might vary significantly.
  • Longevity of Results: A full facelift often offers more long-lasting results compared to a mini facelift. However, both procedures can significantly turn back the clock on aging.
  • Consultation: Always consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon. They can provide personalized advice based on your facial anatomy and desired outcomes.

Remember, the goal is to achieve a natural, refreshed appearance that aligns with how you feel inside. Whether you opt for a full or mini facelift, the right procedure can offer confidence-boosting results.
