Rhinoplasty in the Winter or Spring

What is a rhinoplasty?

A rhinoplasty, also known as a nose job, is a cosmetic nose surgery that modifies the appearance of the nose. Rhinoplasty surgery is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures performed. A rhinoplasty can change the proportions of the nose, correct asymmetry, reshape the tip or nostrils, and otherwise bring the nose into greater balance with the rest of the facial features. At the same time, functional changes can be made to address breathing concerns to ensure that breathing is enhanced after the procedure.

Why is a rhinoplasty ideal over the winter and early spring months?

If you are contemplating a rhinoplasty and are eager to book your surgery with Dr. Litner and Dr. Solieman of Beverly Hills Profiles, there are several advantages to planning a winter or spring procedure. Here are some reasons why this might be the ideal time for you to undergo a rhinoplasty:

  • Winter or Spring Break. Whether you are celebrating the holiday season or decompressing with a February/March staycation, it is common to take time off during winter. An elective surgery can coincide nicely with time away from your normal routine.
  • Cooler weather. The skin is sensitive to temperature changes–even more so when it is healing. Cooler weather tends to constrict blood vessels in the skin and reduce swelling in your nose after rhinoplasty. It is important to protect the nose from extreme heat or cold, so if temperatures drop, be sure to bundle up and cover your nose when going outdoors for extended periods in very cold climates.
  • Seasonal allergies. During the initial post-procedure recovery period, it is normal for the nasal passages to feel stuffy. If you suffer from hay fever or other seasonal allergies that cause congestion and irritation, a winter rhinoplasty might reduce the chances of exacerbated symptoms. The good news is that most people who suffer from allergies tend to get a little break from them for a while after surgery.

When scheduling a rhinoplasty, you should choose the most convenient time based on your commitments and lifestyle. A winter is an excellent time for a rhinoplasty, but the procedure can be performed anytime. Consult with our expert rhinoplasty surgeons to help you determine the best time for your surgery.
