blepharoplasty

Experience the Best

Say goodbye to your tired, aging eyes with eyelid surgery at Beverly Hills PROFILES. Let our facial plastic surgeons give you the beautiful, alluring eyes you have always desired. Drs. Litner and Solieman will assess your case and listen to your goals in order to rejuvenate your appearance through blepharoplasty surgery in Beverly Hills.

If you look more tired than you feel, it may be due to the signs of aging around your eyes. Droopy eyelids and under-eye bags begin affecting people as early as their late twenties and are often the very first part of the face to show signs of aging. The sagging around the eyes can add several years to a person’s appearance and is often the single biggest difference between looking younger versus appearing older.

Over one hundred thousand people undergo some kind of eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty, each year. Traditional techniques focus on removing excess fat from around the eyes, while more recent techniques add fat to the area to increase volume, thereby creating a more youthful appearance.

Unlike most other plastic surgery practices, at Beverly Hills PROFILES our facial plastic surgeons Drs. Solieman and Litner combine these techniques as well as other proven methods to create a customized solution that is best suited for your specific needs.

PREPARING FOR YOUR EYELID SURGERY IN BEVERLY HILLS

Prior to your surgery, we will review your medical history to ensure that you are a safe candidate for blepharoplasty. You will be asked questions regarding your vision, tear production, and need for vision correction. You may also need a complete ophthalmologic evaluation prior to your surgery to check for these issues.

Prior to your surgery, Drs. Solieman and Litner will review all the details of your procedure with you. You will also be given specific instructions on preparing for your eyelid surgery, including guidelines for eating and drinking, vitamin and medication intake, smoking, and aftercare. Please be sure to arrange a ride home from our office after your procedure since you will be able to return home the same day.

ANESTHESIA FOR YOUR BLEPHAROPLASTY

At Beverly Hills PROFILES, we only use only board-certified anesthesiologists for our surgeries. You will have a chance to meet with the anesthesiologist prior to your procedure and you will have the opportunity to voice any questions or concerns.

We have found that most of our patients comfortably tolerate upper eyelid surgery under local anesthesia, which numbs the eye area. While you will be awake during your eyelid surgery, you will be relaxed and will not feel any pain. Occasionally, we may also use oral or intravenous sedation along with local anesthesia. However, for patients interested in lower eyelid surgery (with or without fat injection), we typically recommend general anesthesia.

RECOVERY AFTER EYELID SURGERY

Our patients are generally able to return home the day of surgery. Most patients report little to no pain, but pain medication will be provided to you for the first night, and for the days that follow if necessary.

Drs. Solieman and Litner will check on you during your first night after surgery and will see you at the Beverly Hills PROFILES office the following day to review the results. You will be given a list of activities to avoid for the first several weeks while your eyes fully heal. Your stitches will be removed after about one week.

All of your follow-up appointments will be scheduled prior to your surgery so that you do not have to worry about making appointments afterward. Because we at Beverly Hills PROFILES are deeply committed to your well-being, we will continue to follow your post-operative condition for years after your eyelid surgery.

Still not sure if blepharoplasty is for you?

ARE YOU AN EYELID SURGERY CANDIDATE?

Eyelid surgery is an excellent option for individuals whose eyes are beginning to show signs of aging. You may be a candidate if you have one or more of the following symptoms:

  • Drooping upper eyelids
  • Obstructed vision due to eyelid shape
  • Puffy bags under the eyes
  • Loose skin/muscle under the eyes
  • Deep wrinkles near the corners of the eyes
  • Hollowing or loss of volume around the eyes

During your consultation at our Beverly Hills office, Drs. Solieman and Litman will analyze your eyes, eyelids, and brow shape to suggest either a blepharoplasty or a non-surgical treatment that will best address your aesthetic goals.

POTENTIAL RISKS AND TEMPORARY SIDE-EFFECTS OF BLEPHAROPLASTY

FAQs

Blepharoplasty surgery is performed on an outpatient basis, so you can go home the same day the procedure is performed. The recovery period is different for each patient, but it may last anywhere between 7 and 14 days or longer.

Despite the fact that the procedure may be performed under a combination of sedation and anesthesia, blepharoplasty surgery is not considered a major operation. Like all surgical procedures, there are risks involved, albeit not as severe as other cosmetic surgeries.

There is a level of discomfort associated with blepharoplasty surgery, but the pain is normally controlled with over-the-counter analgesics. Drs. Litner and Solieman will create a custom recovery plan that will address pain and other common side-effects that occur after surgery.

Some of the side-effects and potential risks of eyelid surgery include:

  • Dry, irritated eyes
  • Visible scarring
  • Temporary blurring of vision
  • Pain and inflammation during the recovery

Blepharoplasty surgery can be performed on patients of all ages, but the ideal candidates are usually older than 30, have visible sagging in the skin around the eyes, and have a relatively healthy lifestyle. To find out if you are a good candidate for the procedure, contact a double board-certified surgeon in your area to book a consultation.
