Blepharoplasty in Los Angeles
Your Blepharoplasty at PROFILES Beverly Hills
If you often look more tired than you feel, it may be because of the signs of aging around your eyes. Droopy eyelids and under-eye bags begin affecting people as early as their late twenties, and are often the very first part of the face to show signs of age. These signs of aging around the eyes can add several years to a person’s appearance, and are often the single biggest difference between looking young or old.
Over a hundred thousand people receive some kind of eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, each year. Classic blepharoplasty techniques focus on removing excess fat from around the eyes, while modern techniques instead add fat to increase the volume and create a more youthful appearance. However, neither procedure is suited for everyone. Unlike most other centers, PROFILES Beverly Hills combines these techniques, as well as other advanced methods, to create the customized solution that is best for you.
Ideal Candidates for Eyelid Surgery
Eyelid surgery is a viable option for thousands of people whose eyes are beginning to show signs of aging. You may be a candidate if you have any of the following symptoms:
- Drooping upper eyelids
- Obstructed vision due to eyelid shape
- Puffy bags under the eyes
- Loose skin/muscle under the eyes
- Deep wrinkles near the corners of the eyes
- Hollowing or loss of volume around the eyes
There are also a number of other factors that may affect your ability to receive successful eye surgery. During your consultation at our Beverly Hills office, Drs. Solieman and Litman will analyze your eye, eyelid, and brow shapes to determine the best approach for you. Our doctors will also review your medical history with you for problematic signs, such as dry eyes, tear duct problems, glaucoma, a detached retina, or any type of circulatory disorder. Your needs may also be affected by your use of glasses or contact lenses.
Preparing for Your Eyelid Surgerys
Prior to your surgery, it is absolutely vital to review your medical history, to ensure that you are a safe candidate for blepharoplasty. You will be asked questions regarding your vision, tear production, and vision correction. We also ask that you have a complete ophthalmologic evaluation prior to your surgery to check for these issues.
Prior to your surgery, Drs. Solieman and Litner will review all the details of your procedure with you, based on your initial consultation. You will also be given specific instructions on preparing for your surgery, including guidelines for eating and drinking, vitamin and medication intake, smoking, and after care. Please be sure to arrange a ride home from our office after your procedure, as you will be able to return home the same night, but may not be ready to drive yourself immediately after your procedure.
Before & After Photos of Real Patients
Anesthesia for Your Blepharoplasty
Here at PROFILES Beverly Hills, we utilize only board certified anesthesiologists for all our surgeries. You will have a chance to meet with your anesthesiologist prior to your procedure and you will have the opportunity to voice any questions or concerns you may have.
We have found that most of our patients comfortably tolerate upper eyelid surgery under local anesthesia, which numbs the eye area. Occasionally, we may also utilize oral or intravenous sedation along with the local anesthesia. On the other hand, for patients interested in lower eyelid surgery, with or without fat injection, we typically recommend general anesthesia. While you will be awake during your eyelid surgery, you will be relaxed and will not feel any pain.
Recovery After Eyelid Surgery
Our patients are generally able to return home the first night after surgery. Most patients report very little to no pain, but pain medication will be provided to you for the first night, and for the days that follow if necessary.
Drs. Solieman and Litner will check on you during your first night after surgery, and we will see you back in our office the following day to review the results. You will be given a list of activities to avoid for the first several weeks while your eyes fully heal, and your stitches will be removed after about one week.
All of your follow-up appointments will be scheduled prior to your surgery, so that you do not have to worry about making those appointments. Because we at PROFILES Beverly Hills are so committed to your well-being, we will continue to follow your post-operative condition for years after your surgery.
