Reconstructive Surgery

Total Nasal Reconstruction

Our passion for nasal surgery doesn’t stop at cosmetic rhinoplasty. Here at PROFILES, we have extensive experience in helping patients with significant nasal deformities to rebuild their noses and their self-esteem. Nasal Reconstruction at PROFILES may include repair of a major septal perforation or reconstruction of a collapsed nasal bridge or tip. Dr. Solieman and Dr. Litner often get referrals for this type of surgery from far and wide for patients whose problems have been otherwise “written off” as being beyond repair. If you have severe cosmetic or breathing concerns related to your nose because of injury, cocaine or other drug use, disease, prior surgery, or congenital problems such as cleft lip, there is a very good chance we may be able to help you. We encourage you to browse our online book on Profiles Modern Rhinoplasty for more information related to this and other topics. Feel free to Contact Us to discuss your situation in more detail so that we can help you decide if nasal reconstruction is right for you. During your individualized Profiles consultation, we can examine you in detail and elaborate on what you can hope to achieve with nasal reconstruction.

Skin Cancer, Mohs Surgery and Reconstruction

Reconstructive Surgery Beverly HIllsNot only does heavy sun exposure contribute to aging of the skin, it is also a significant risk factor for development of all major types of skin cancer. This includes two of the most common forms of skin cancer, basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. These cancers are almost never life-threatening but they can be deforming. There are many ways to treat these superficial tumors, but the most reliable is an advanced technique called Mohs micrographic surgery. This technique, involves the meticulous incremental removal of minute layers of skin tissue which are then examined under a microscope, ensuring that all cancerous tissue is removed while surrounding healthy tissue is spared. Mohs surgery is particularly useful for recurrent or aggressive tumors, tumors that arise in a scar, or those occurring in cosmetically sensitive areas like the lips, eyelids, or nose. In these cases, the surgery can spare the surrounding healthy tissue while providing the highest potential for complete cancer removal.
Specialized Dermatologic Surgeons perform the Mohs surgery skin cancer removal, but Dr. Solieman and Dr. Litner are often called upon by these dermatologic surgeons to reconstruct the surgical site. Once the cancer is completely removed, the doctor will determine the best method for managing the resulting surgical wound. A depression or hole may be left in the skin after a malignant lesion has been removed and, while smaller wounds may be left on their own to heal or are treated fairly easily, larger wounds require a more significant reconstruction. Dr. Litner and Dr. Solieman are very well versed in the best ways to repair these defects to restore your anatomy and appearance as close to its natural state as possible while preserving function of the involved facial feature. In many cases, these reconstructive procedures can heal so inconspicuously so as to be virtually unnoticeable.
The best results are achieved when these lesions are discovered and treated as early as possible. If you or someone you know is experiencing a non-healing sore or an area of skin that is itchy, painful, or bleeds easily for an extended period of time, we encourage you to seek evaluation. Please do not hesitate to contact us for more details.

Scar Revision and Trauma

Both physical and emotional scarring can result from traumatic injuries. Unsightly scars or distorted facial features can occur from motor-vehicle accidents, domestic abuse, or other forms of assault. Bites which have occurred on the face, lips, or ears, along with tearing lacerations and deep penetrating injuries, are best treated by a facial plastic surgeon. These injuries often need to be repaired with meticulous closure under magnification. Dr Litner and Dr. Solieman strive to restore a normal life to these patients through timely and attentive surgery. Significant improvements can be made even sometimes years after an injury. If you have an unsatisfactory scar, we would be happy to see you for a personalized Profiles consultation to discuss just what scar revision can do for you.
