Q – What is neck liposuction?
Neck liposuction is a procedure which involves the removal of localized fat deposits in order to improve the contours of the neck. Neck liposuction can be ideal for younger individuals who have fat just beneath the chin that does not require a full face and neck lift.

Q – Who is a good candidate for neck liposuction?
Those who would like to improve the appearance of excess fat of the neck may be good candidates for neck liposuction. As with all facial plastic surgery, patients should also be physically healthy and realistic in their expectations.

Q – What does the consultation for neck liposuction entail?
During your consultation with Dr. Solieman or Dr. Litner, you will discuss your goals and the doctor will examine your neck and skin. A thorough medical history will be taken and you should be sure to tell the doctor about any medications your are taking, whether or not you smoke, and about any medical conditions that you have. All aspects of the neck liposuction procedure will be discussed including the technique, the anesthesia, the facility, the recovery, the risks, and the costs.

Q – Where do Dr. Litner and Dr. Solieman perform neck liposuction?
Neck liposuction is commonly performed as an outpatient procedure. All outpatient procedures will be performed in our brand new, state of the art, fully accredited, office-based surgical facility located in Beverly Hills.

Q – What type of anesthesia will be used for my neck liposuction procedure?
Dr. Solieman and Dr. Litner commonly use local anesthesia, often combined with sedation, for the neck liposuction procedure.

Q – How is the neck liposuction procedure performed?
Once anesthesia is administered, a very small and hidden incision is made within a natural skin crease of the neck. The doctor will then insert the cannula, which is a narrow tube, through the incision and into the fat layer beneath the skin. The fat cells are disrupted and then suctioned out. For a uniform tightening, the entire neck is typically treated.

Q – How long does neck liposuction take to perform?
Neck liposuction usually takes thirty minutes to an hour to perform.

The incision for neck liposuction is a very small one that is hidden within a natural crease in the neck skin.

Patients may experience some mild discomfort which can be controlled with medication.

Some minor bruising and swelling can be expected after the neck liposuction and this will fade within about seven to ten days. Patients may also experience numbness and some mild discomfort which can be controlled with medication. During the first week, an elastic support bandage will need to be worn.

Q – How soon will I be able to return to work after my neck liposuction procedure?
Work can usually be resumed within five to seven days after the neck liposuction procedure.

The stitches are removed in about five to seven days after the neck liposuction procedure.

Q – Are there any risks associated with neck liposuction?
As with all types of surgery, neck liposuction does have potential risks which may include adverse anesthesia reactions, blood clots, contour irregularities, infection, permanent numbness and persistent swelling.

Q – Is neck liposuction covered by insurance?
Insurance generally does not cover neck liposuction procedures that are purely cosmetic in nature, though patients will need to check with their own insurance carrier.
