| The Profiles Facelift (Rhytidectomy) |
|
Aging of the face is inevitable. We all see the effects of gravity, sun exposure, and daily stresses as the months and years pass. A facelift, also known as rhytidectomy, cannot stop the aging process, but when done well can set back the clock by tightening the underlying muscles, removing excess fat, and removing the most visible sign of aging- the redundant and wrinkled face and neck skin.
As the years pass the skin of the face and neck gradually loosens, allowing crow’s feet (wrinkles around the eyes) to form and deep creases to form between the nose and mouth (nasolabial folds). Fine lines develop on the forehead which then settle into creases and eventually deeper folds. The jawline slackens and forms jowls, while the neck acquires folds and fat deposits. It’s no wonder that the facelift has become the third most popular facial plastic surgery procedure, particularly as the aging
population grows.
If you’re considering a facelift and wondering how it might improve your looks and self-confidence, it’s important that you understand how the procedure is performed and what you can expect. We’ve all seen friends, family and the celebrities who have had facelifts that looked pulled and unnatural. Often times, people look windswept and almost unrecognizable. Here at PROFILES, we take every care in planning your surgery in order to preserve your natural features while making you look younger
and more vibrant.
The following information is provided to give you a basic understanding of the Profiles Facelift, including how it can help you, how it is performed, and what you can expect. Because much of facial plastic surgery is dependent upon your individual characteristics, a personal Profiles Consultation is the best way to have all of your questions about the Profiles Facelift answered and your specific needs addressed.
| Profiles Facelift Candidates |
|
A facelift can improve your self-confidence and provide you a more youthful, refreshed appearance.
In general, we have found that men and women who have some elasticity in their skin and a strong, well-defined bone structure are the best candidates for a facelift. Other factors that we will take into consideration during your consultation include your skin type, your individual healing, your ethnic background, and your smoking history.
While the majority of our facelift patients range in age from their forties to their sixties, facelifts are successfully performed at PROFILES on patients in their seventies and eighties.
As you decide to undergo a Profiles Facelift, you can also ask your doctors if there are any additional surgeries that they would recommend to enhance your facial appearance.

At PROFILES, we utilize modern and time proven techniques which we know will last long term and allow you to achieve the goals youre seeking. During your personal Profiles Consultation, we will evaluate your face, skin, and underlying bone structure. Photographs will be taken so your doctors can further study your face and utilizing state of the art computer imaging

| Preparing For Surgery at PROFILES Surgery Center |
|
Prior to your facelift at PROFILES, you will be given specific instructions on preparing for your surgery including guidelines for eating and drinking, vitamin and medication intake, and smoking. We will also discuss with you the various after hour care centers or private nurses available to you for your first postoperative night.
We admonish all our smokers that they must stop smoking for at least two weeks before and after surgery because smoking can interfere with the healing of incisions and inhibit blood flow to the skin. Also if you have short hair, we encourage you to grow your hair out prior to surgery, and even prior to your consultation so as to better help conceal the incisions post-operatively as they heal on their way to becoming inconspicuous.
All of our outpatient procedures including facelifts are performed in our brand new, state of the art, fully accredited, office-based surgical facility- the Profiles Surgery Center.
Profiles Facility
Here at PROFILES we utilize only board certified anesthesiologists for all our surgeries. We have found that while facelifts can be performed under sedation, most of our patients prefer general anesthesia. However, the extent of your procedure and your preference can also help to determine the type of anesthesia used.

The Profiles Beverly Hills Facelift surgery is uniquely tailored to take into consideration your individual characteristics and goals. While there are many advertisements about so called lunch time lifts and thread lifts, we at PROFILES utilize the most modern multilayered facelift procedures that will give you long lasting natural results.
At PROFILES, we are meticulous in planning every step of your surgery. We individually tailor your surgery to account for your hairline both in front and behind your ears, and hide all of your incisions within your natural creases in order to maximally conceal them. We will discuss the state of the art in techniques and discuss which procedure will best accomplish your unique goals.
| After Your Profiles Facelift |
|
After your surgery, we will have planned for you to stay at one of our affiliated after care facilities. All of our patients are attended by a warm and caring nurse who will provide for your needs during that first night.
Most patients describe feeling tight and somewhat uncomfortable the night of surgery but rarely is pain an issue. You will be provided with pain medications should you need them both during the first night and, if ever necessary, for the days that follow.
The postoperative dressing will be removed on the morning after surgery and will be replaced with a lighter dressing that will be worn for the next day. The following day (postoperative day 2) we will see you in our office, your dressings will be removed and we will personally wash your hair and clean all incisions.
You will be given specific instructions for gradually returning to your normal activities. In general, you will need to avoid strenuous activities, including sex and heavy housework, for a minimum of two weeks.
Because we care about your immediate comfort and long term results, we schedule all of your follow-up appointments when you schedule your surgery. And we are so committed to your long term results and happiness that we will do our best to follow your postoperative course even years after your surgery.
