The Mediterranean and Middle Eastern Nose

When considering the Mediterranean and Middle Eastern nose, images of the classic high, strong profile so prevalent throughout the artwork of the classic Roman period are brought to mind. However, as with all other ethnic noses, further analysis reveals a wide range of individual characteristics.

Oftentimes, Drs. Solieman and Litner find that their Mediterranean, Arab, and Middle Eastern patients have noses that are generally more droopy and lacking in adequate tip support compared to the average Caucasian nose. At other times, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean patients have an overall large nose, with either a straight bridge or a large hump. In these patients, the nasal tip is also typically large. In these cases, Drs. Solieman and Litner will also discuss the importance of skin thickness and impress upon you the benefits and difficulties that arise due to the heavy, thick skin often found in patients of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern descent.

When present, Drs. Solieman and Litner take these differences in anatomic and structural components into consideration in planning your surgery and in explaining to you, our patient, what can be accomplished with your surgery.
